REASI, Feb 22: The police seized 53 kg poppy straw (bhuki) from a truck on Katra-Reasi road this evening.
A police spokesman said that acting on a tip off, a police naka party from Reasi, intercepted the truck No. JK02AB/9171 at Simbal Choa. The driver and cleaner of the vehicle jumped out and escaped towards the nearby jungle on seeing cops.
During search of the vehicle, the police party recovered 53 kg poppy straw concealed under goods. The vehicle along with consignment was seized and a manhunt was launched for the smugglers.
