52 bovines rescued, 4 smugglers arrested

JAMMU, Mar 8: Jammu police has foiled three bovine smuggling bids by rescuing 52 bovines and arresting 4 smugglers.
“Police parties from police station Nagrota and Jhajjar Kotli laid special nakas near Ban Toll Plaza & TCP Nagrota and Suketar (Jhajjar Kotli), respectively and succeeded in arresting the 4 bovine smugglers and rescuing 52 bovine animals. Five vehicles of the smugglers bearing registration numbers JK02CB-6307, JK02CK-0453, JK21-4969, JK03D-7802 and JK18B-0150 were also seized,” a police official said.
He said four arrested smugglers were identified as Abdul Hamid son of Bashir Ahmed of Gujjar Colony (Sunjwan, Jammu), Rakeeb Ahmed son of Noor Din of Bingara (tehsil Pogalparistan, district Ramban), Rehmat Ali son of Mohd Shafi of Gadigarh (Jammu) and Abdul Ganai son of Mohd Suban Ganai of Qazigund.
“In this connection, four cases vide FIR numbers 119/2020, 120/2020, 121/2020 and 122/2020 under relevant sections of law have been registered in police station Nagrota and one case stands registered at police station Jhajjar Kotli,” the official added.
Police parties headed by SHO police station Nagrota Inspector Mohd Shoket and SHO Jhajjar Kotli Inspector Rajesh Khajuria under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Sharma and SP Rural Suram Singh made the recovery and arrest.
