JAMMU, July 21: Jammu and Kashmir continued to see a substantial rise in new COVID cases as 505 fresh infections surfaced today, taking the infection tally to 4,58,456, officials said.
No fatality was reported in the last 24 hours.
Of the new cases, 277 were reported from Jammu and 228 from Kashmir, officials said.
The death toll due to the virus stands at 4,761.
There are 2,077 active COVID cases in the Union Territory while the number of recoveries has reached 4,51,618, officials said.
Meanwhile, Ladakh reported 22 fresh cases of Coronavirus, thereby increasing the total COVID-19 tally to 28,692.
All positive cases were reported from Leh.
So far, 228 people have succumbed to COVID-19 in Ladakh. Of these, 168 deaths were reported from Leh and 60 from Kargil, according to the officials.
The officials said the number of active COVID-19 cases has gone up to 103 in Ladakh.
While a total of 484 samples were tested in Ladakh, they said.
