JAMMU, Dec 23: A total of 50 Kissan Credit Cards (KCCs) were distributed to the farmers in a one-day Financial Literacy-cum-Awareness Camp organized by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) at Deon Panchayat of Purmandal Block, here today.
The KCCs were distributed to the farmers by Chief General Manager (CGM), NABARD, Regional Office, Jammu, Dr B G Mukhopadhyay, who stated that KCCs have emerged as an innovative credit delivery mechanism to meet the production credit requirements of the farmers in a timely and hassle-free manner.
He apprised the gathering that NABARD has started a campaign throughout the State with an objective of creating awareness about the importance of having a bank account and importance of KCC, Dairy Scheme, SHGs, Farmers’ Club Programme, etc, and impressed upon the people to take advantage of this campaign.
DDM, NABARD, Surinder Singh, asserted that Financial Inclusion is a flagship programme of Government of India and under this plan each and every household of the country is to be covered with a bank account in a time bound manner.
Vinay Sahni, Cluster Head, J&K Bank, advised farmers to come forward and take benefit of various banking products specially designed for the farming community.
BM Sharma, LDM, BK Goswami, District Coordinator, J&K Bank, Sarveshwar Kohli, Area Manager, J&K Grameen Bank, Mahesh Gupta, Director, R-Seti, SL Sharma, FLC Head, officials from Agriculture as well as Animal Husbandry Department, also addressed the gathering.
