JAMMU Dec 23: Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, State secretary CPI (M), today said the Kashmiri migrants putting up at Jammu are facing acute shortage of essential commodities.
He said most of the CAPD retail outlets established for Kashmiri migrants in Jammu particularly in Jagti, Roopnagar and Purkhu camps are running dry causing tremendous hardships to the public.
Tarigami interacted with various deputations of migrants who raised the issue of the shortage of food grains in their respective camps. “Time and again I have raised my voice for provision of adequate amenities and essentials to the Kashmiri migrants” Tarigami said adding that in a democratic system, denial of basic need to the people is unjustified.
The CPI(M) leader urged the administration to rush food stocks to these depots facing scarcity of the ration. He also sought intervention from the Central Government for releasing additional quota of ration for the Kashmiri migrants. He said that these migrants are unable to afford ration and other essentials from open market. He also suggested for putting in place contingency measures for winter dumping in these areas.
