Shabir kick starts work on Patrara- Dabrote road

RAJOURI, Dec 23: Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmad Khan today kick started the construction work on Patrara to Dabrote road.
The construction work on the 8 km road project would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 10.45 crore under PMGSY. After its completion the road would provide better connectivity facility to a large population of this border area.
Addressing a public meeting after launching the work at border village Patrara, the Minister said that road communication to far-flung and border areas and linking these with main highways along with augmentation of drinking water and electricity supply and healthcare besides expansion of education facilities tops the priorities of the Government.
He said a number of roads have been constructed during last 5 years in Rajouri district with the aim to provide connectivity to rural areas for the socio- economic transformation of people.
The Health Minister said providing health care facilities to hitherto uncovered areas was the priority of the Government, adding this year maximum number of such areas would get Sub-Health Centres. He asked people that several health welfare schemes with flagship NRHM are under implementation across the State and called upon them to take full benefits of these schemes.
Shabir said that reaching out to every area is the guiding principle in the development process launched by the Government aiming at equitable and all round development of all the regions and sub-regions of the State. He said special focus was being laid on the fast track development of remote, hilly and backward pockets of the State besides weaker sections of the society.
The Minister said that public empowerment to ensure area specific development and involvement of the people’s representatives in decision making at grass root level through Panchayati Raj System has already began.
The Minister asked the officers to ensure hassle-free public services to the people in remote areas and be at their beck and call at all times to remove their sufferings. He told the officers that the people in remote pockets require all the more attention as the Government is only means to them for getting necessary succour particularly in the hour of need. He said availability and distribution of essential commodities and domestic fuel should receive priority.
