UDHAMPUR, May 2: Foiling two separate attempts of bovine smuggling, Udhampur Police today rescued 50 bovine animals from Bharat Nagar and MH Chowk.
According to SSP Udhampur, Rajiv Pandey, Police party intercepted two groups of 50 bovine animals from two naka points, 26 bovines from Bharat Nagar and 24 from MH Chowk, which were being taken on foot by the smugglers separately towards Kashmir without any valid permission.
The police party, which foiled the smuggling bids, was led by SHO Udhampur, Insp Vijay Singh Choudhary, under the supervision of Dr Rohit Chadgal DySP Hqrs Udhampur and Rajinder Singh Katoch, Addl SP Udhampur. Even as all 50 bovine animals in total were rescued, the accused smugglers managed to escape from the spot.
In this connection, two cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at PS Udhampur and further investigation is going on.
