RAJOURI, June 9: The police has seized five vehicles for illegal mining and transportation of river-minerals in Rajouri district.
Official sources said that acting on specific inputs, police teams from Police Station Rajouri conducted surprise checking at multiple sites known for illicit mining operations. During the drive, five vehicles were found involved in illegal mining and seized on the spot. These include two tractors and three dumpers, each being operated without legal authorization.
Among the seized vehicles are a tractor bearing registration number JK11F 7790, driven by Daleep Kumar, son of Tilk Raj, resident of Thudi, Rajouri; another tractor bearing registration number JK11G 2695, driven by Anil Kumar, son of Chatter Singh, resident of Mehra, Rajouri; a dumper with registration number JK11D 2499, driven by Abdul Wahid, son of Mohd Fazal, resident of Ghambir Brahmana, Manjakote; a dumper bearing registration number JK12C 1350, driven by Mohd Asif, son of Mohd Sadiq, resident of Rajouri; and another dumper with registration number JK02CH 9929, driven by Mohd Rafiq, son of Lal Din, resident of Phullian, in Rajouri.
A legal action has been initiated against the drivers and owners of these vehicles under the relevant provisions of law.
