5 PoK guests arrive, 1 Kashmiri crosses to other side of LoC

SRINAGAR: Five guests from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) arrived here today while only one Kashmiri crossed over to other side of the Line of Control (LoC), as situation remained tense on the borders following fresh ceasefire violation by Pakistan in which a soldier was killed and seven others were injured overnight.

As many as 16 returnees also cross sides at the Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the LoC in Uri sector, official sources said here this afternoon.

The weekly Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of PoK, left here early this morning for Kaman Post with five passengers left here at 0700 hrs for security reasons to avoid any stone pelting and protests due to strike, called by separatists. The bus has since reached Kaman Post at around 0900 hrs, they said adding one more person boarded the bus at Uri.

Sources said of them five were POK who returned to their homes after completing stay in Kashmir with their relatives separated in 1947 due to partition. (AGENCIES)
