5 nomadic families rescued

Srinagar, May 16: Five nomadic families were rescued today after they were stuck in Pir Panchal hills, police said.
Kulgam police received information that some nomad families are stuck in peer Panchal hills due to snowstorm, acted swiftly.
A statement issued here said that the police party along with SDRF led by SDPO DH Pora launched a rescue operation in the snow-covered mountainous region.
During the rescue operation, five nomadic families consisting of thirty (30) members were rescued.
Police said that these families got stuck in a snowstorm at Bada Pir Panchal while migrating along with their livestock from Mahore District Reasi towards Nandimarg Kulgam by opting higher reaches of Pir Panchal range.
Their livestock consisting of 15 horses and 250 Sheeps died due to snowstorm, however, all the members of these families including woman and children were rescued and later shifted to Zomasthal Bahak near Village Nandimarg.
Locals have lauded the efforts and swift action of Kulgam Police.
