207 employees, shopkeepers positive in RAT

JAMMU, Sept 1: There was no let up in Coronavirus related deaths and cases in Jammu region as five more persons including a woman died of the virus while 241 persons tested positive today including two more senior BJP leaders, a KPS officer posted as SP, two Sarpanchs and a Panchayat Secretary, five more officials of the Deputy Commissioner Kathua, yet another Tehsildar, five employees of GMC Doda, four doctors, four of a family each from Trikuta Nagar and Ramgarh and a couple and their seven-month baby from Prem Nagar.

As many as 207 persons tested positive for COVID-19 during Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) in various Government offices, markets and other areas in Jammu district including 156 in Urban and 51 in rural areas today.
Those tested positive for pathogen in Government offices and markets in City include Excise Complex Panama Chowk (14), JDA Complex Rail Head (22), Jammu Municipal Corporation Town Hall (21), RTO Office Narwal (7), PHE Procurement Wing Narwal (3), Forest Complex Bypass Narwal (3), Transport Commissioner Rail Head (3), Forest Complex Dogra Hall (4), RBI Complex Trikuta Nagar (3), BSNL Office Bahu Plaza (4), Government Treasury Town Hall (13), Govt Treasury New Plot (6), Govt Treasury Gandhi Nagar (5), Director Garages (4), Kanak Mandi (18), District Fund Office Muthi (10), Sainik Board Ambphalla (2), Press Club Jammu (6), Director Information Bahu Plaza (1), AM Tata Sales Narwal (2) and Shree Toyota Narwal (1).
In rural areas, 17 shopkeepers and others tested positive for the virus in Akhnoor, Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Ajay Sharma said, adding necessary measures as per COVID management protocol are being taken.
A 55-year-old woman from Bagh-e-Bahu in Jammu, who was admitted in CCU of the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu yesterday and was positive for COVID-19, died in the hospital tonight, Medical Superintendent Dr Dara Singh said, adding that a 45-year-old man from Ward No. 2 Simbal Camp was brought dead to the GMC from near Hotel Asia late tonight. He tested positive for the virus posthumously.
A 55-year-old man from Ward No. 3 of Billawar tehsil in Kathua district died in the GMC Jammu where he was admitted yesterday. He was positive for Coronavirus.
An 84-year-old man from Subash Nagar and 60-year-old male from Birpur Samba also succumbed to pathogen.
Five deaths have taken Jammu region’s Corona tally to 73 and that of Jammu district to 49 followed by five in Rajouri, four each Kathua, Doda and Poonch, three Samba, two Udhampur and one each in Ramban and Kishtwar districts.
Meanwhile, BJP vice president Narinder Singh, treasurer Prabhat Singh and his wife today tested positive for COVID-19. BJP president Ravinder Raina, Jammu-Poonch MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, former Minister Sunil Sharma and two general secretaries Ashok Koul and Vibodh Gupta have already tested COVID positive.
Meanwhile, there will be no weekend lockdown in Jammu district from this week. This was stated by District Magistrate Jammu Sushma Chauhan.
A KPS officer posted as SP and Staff Officer to a DIG, who had gone to his house in Doda district, tested Corona positive there.
A total of five persons from Prem Nagar including a couple and their seven month baby, two doctors, four members of a family in Trikuta Nagar and three CRPF personnel of 84 battalion Chatha were among today’s positives in Jammu district.
A Tehsildar posted in Nowshera, a doctor of Seri Nowshera and his wife, a GMC Rajouri staffer and three shopkeepers were among 19 persons who tested COVID positive in Rajouri.
Five more employees in the office of Deputy Commissioner Kathua including three teachers posted on COVID duty and two Revenue officials tested Corona positive taking total number of positive employees to 20. A total of 28 persons have tested positive in Kathua today including 20 locals and eight travelers, District Magistrate OP Bhagat said.
Two Sarpanchs-one each from Upper Salwah and Ari Narian in Mendhar, a Panchayat Secretary at BDO Mendhar office and a shopkeeper were among four positives cases reported from Mendhar today while a total of 20 persons tested positive for the virus in Poonch district, SSP Ramesh Angral said. The BDO Mendhar had tested positive yesterday.
Five shopkeepers of Surankote were among the positives of Poonch district.
Twelve persons today tested positive for the virus in Samba district including four members of a family, three of whom were women, hailing from Ward No. 2 Ramgarh, another woman from Ward No. 1 Thalora, whose husband is already positive, an official of Axis Bank Jammu Head Office hailing from Shah Balod, an Army soldier, a police personnel and an X-Ray technician posted in Samba.
Four persons including a Health employee tested positive in Udhampur district.
As many as 111 Corona patients were today discharged from various hospitals in Jammu region after testing negative for the virus, the highest being 49 in Jammu district, 16 Doda, 14 Kathua, 10 Reasi and one each in Udhampur and Ramban districts.
As per the official figures, Jammu region has 9022 Corona cases including 2318 active positive while 6634 have been treated and discharged. There have been 73 casualties.
Meanwhile, the Union Territory of Ladakh today reported another Corona casualty and 52 new cases including 46 in Leh and six in Kargil.
An 85-year-old man from Hagnis succumbed to COVID-19 in Kargil district taking Corona toll in Ladakh to 35—13 in Leh and 22 in Kargil district.
