5 held for illegal extraction of minerals

Srinagar, Jan 1: Police in Budgam today said to have arrested 5 persons and seized 5 vehicles for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
Acting on reliable information, police said, a team from Police Station Beerwah at a checkpoint established at Mulshulla crossing intercepted 05 vehicles (Tippers) bearing registration numbers JK05B-3354, JK14B-8115, JK04C-3941, JK01T-3181 and JK03A-1808 involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals from Government land.
“All vehicles have been seized and 5 persons arrested. They have been identified as Bashir Ahmad Malik, son of Ghulam Mohd Malik, Resident of Dadina Budgam, Firdous Ahmad Gabor son of Bashir Ahmad resident of Budgam, Danish Ahmad Baba son of Showkat Ahmad resident of Qadipora Budgam, Ashiq Hussain Yatoo son of Mohd Akbar resident of Sholipora & Mohammad Yousuf Mir son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din resident of Waterwani Budgam,” police said.
Police said that those arrested have been shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 01/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Beerwah and further investigation has been initiated.
