5 drug peddlers held with heroin, ‘bukki’

UDHAMPUR, Feb 3: Continuing its drive against drug- peddlers, Police patrolling party of Police Station Udhampur apprehended a drug peddler and recovered 07 grams of heroin (Chitta) from is possession.
Reports said Police party near Billan Bowli, caught one suspected person who tried to hide himself from police party for checking. During search, 07 grams of heroin was recovered from him. He was identified Jaya Anand Giri, son of Sadanand Giri, resident of Chandigarh, at present Mandir Billan Bowli. The police arrested the accused and consignment and registered a case FIR No. 46/2021 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act against accused.
In yet another case police party near Hari Motors, Udhampur, caught one suspected person and during checking recovered 10 grams of heroin along with Rs 25,000 cash from him. One electronic weighing machine was also recovered from the smuggler namely Shubham Gupta @ Gagu, son of Lt. Yash Paul, resident of Pandhav Mandhir area Udhampur.
Police arrested the accused and registered a case FIR No. 42/2021 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act against him.
Meanwhile, Udhampur police party also apprehended three drug peddler and seized 50 kg of poppy straw / Bukki from them.
On a specific information a police team led by Insp Vijay Singh Choudhary, SHO along with Naib Tehsildar Mohd Saleem (Megistrate) stopped two vehicles, bearing registration number PB65R/8147 and PB10GK/1667 for checking, at Jakhani, Naka, NHW, Udhampur.
During search of vehicles, 50 kg of poppy straw was recovered from drivers namely- Makhan Ram, Jagga Ram and Vijay Kumar, son of Amrik Singh and another person Bittu, son of Omi Ram, all from village Daumajra Tehsil Payal District Ludhiana in Punjab.
The accused persons were arrested and the poppy straw was also seized. A case FIR No. 49/2021 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at PS Udhampur and further investigation was underway.
