Srinagar, July 1: Five COVID-19 positive people today died in Kashmir taking the death toll in Jammu and Kashmir to 107 while 180 people from Valley including 15 CRPF men, three Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) men, two BSF personnel and five policemen tested positive for the COVID-19.
A 50-year-old woman from Kandi Kupwara died at the SKIMS hospital today. She was admitted to SKIMS on June 30 as a case of carcinoma of unknown origin. She had undergone peritoneal biopsy and developed post operation sepsis. She was admitted in medical observation on June 27 with complaints of vomiting and hematochesia.
The COVID-19 swab was taken during that admission which tested positive following which patient was shifted to IDB. She expired this evening due to cardiopulmonary arrest.
A 45-year-old man from Undoo Shangus area of Anantnag district died due to cardiopulmonary arrest this evening at SKIMS. He tested positive for the COVID-19 on June 28.
A 50-year-old woman from Eidgah area of Srinagar died at SKIMS hospital, 12 days after testing positive for the Novel Coronavirus. She was as a case of hypertension, hypothyroidism with community acquired pneumonia with Type 1 respiratory failure. She expired this morning.
A 70-year old man from Sopore area of Baramulla district and 72 year old man from New Colony Bijbehara area of Anantnag district died at Chest Diseases hospital in Srinagar today.
Both of them were more than 70 years old and had bilateral pneumonia with other comorbidities. They were admitted to the hospital on June 24.
With these deaths, 107 COVID-19 positive people died in J&K with 94 from the Valley and 13 from Jammu division.

Srinagar district with 25 deaths has the highest fatalities followed by 17 in Baramulla, 13 in Kulgam, 12 in Shopian, 9 in Anantnag, eight from Budgam, six from Kupwara, four from Pulwama while one death has been reported from Bandipora.
And today 180 people from Kashmir including 15 CRPF men, three Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) men, two BSF personnel and five policemen tested positive for the COVID-19.
Among the total 7695 COVID-19 positive cases reported in Jammu and Kashmir, 2734 are active including 2283 from Kashmir division and 451 from Jammu region.
With 134 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 4856 which is 63.10 percent of the total cases.
Medical Superintendent at SKIMS Dr Farooq Jan told Excelsior that 2550 samples were processed at the Virology lab of the hospital and 85 samples tested positive. Among them were 15 CRPF men from 185, 177, 162 and 181 battalions, 29 from Shopian, six from Anantnag, 15 from Pulwama and nine from Srinagar, three from Baramulla, two from Budgam and one each from Kupwara, Kulgam and Ganderbal.
Principal at JVC Bemina Dr Reyaz Untoo, told Excelsior that out of 543 samples processed at SKIMS Bemina (JVC), 15 including 3 from Budgam and 12 from Srinagar tested positive.
He said that 15 more patients were discharged after recovery from hospital today, taking tally of discharged patients to 498 while as 127 are undergoing treatment at hospital. He further added that 19 normal deliveries were managed and 25 major surgeries were conducted at hospital till date.
An official said that at CD hospital, 80 people tested positive. They include 5 from Police Station Shadipora, two BSF men posted in Baramulla, 3 SSB men from 14th battalion based at Ganderbal and a solider from Badami Bagh Cantonment Srinagar.
