5 cops, prisoner injured in road mishap

SRINAGAR, Mar 9: Five policemen and a prisoner were injured in a road mishap in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district today.
A police official said the policemen were on way to District Jail Kupwara from Awantipora Town of Pulwama district in a Vajra vehicle bearing chasis number 21565 for lodging the prisoner.
However, he said, when the police vehicle reached near Ratbugh in Kupwara, it collided with a tipper bearing number JKO1M 7903, resulting in injuries to five cops and the prisoner.
The injured were immediately rushed to District Hospital Kupwara for treatment and later four of them were referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for specialized treatment.
The injured have been identified as Assistant Sub Inspector Mushtaq Ahmad (546/s), Constable Nadeem Mushtaq (762/Awt), Constable Mubashir Ahmad (501/Awt) Constable Aejaz Ahmad (484 Awt) and driver Constable Sakib Rasool (635 Awt). The prisoner has been identified as Mudasir Ahmad Rather of Woyen Pampore and he was serving detention under NDPS Act.
Police said they have registered a case in this regard and started investigation.
