JAMMU, Dec 17: Outrightly rejecting that there were any irregularities in the allotment of the 48 shops at Jagti township Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, Dr Arvind Karwani today said that the allotment was made through a fair process established by the organisation.
Reacting over the protest of a group of Kashmiri displaced people in the township today, he said a transparent and proper mechanism was evolved while making the allotments of shops. He said the allotments were made after scrutinising the documents and genuinely of the cases. Some quarters were allotted to the chronic patients and widows and out of 140 shops only 48 have been allotted and the rest will follow, he added.
Earlier some migrants in the camp protested saying no fairness was established in allotting the 48 shops at Jagti and people who had deposited marginal money in the shape of CDRs have been ignored.
One migrant also tried to commit suicide accusing the Department of ignoring him being a deserving case. Dilip Pandita of Terrorism Victims Front and Desh Rattan Pandita, president AIMCCC demanded that the genuine people whose shops were existing in erstwhile camps be allotted shops.
