46 kg of poppy ‘doda’, 10 kg poppy straw seized

UDHAMPUR, May 1: Chenani Police today seized 46 kg of poppy ‘doda’ and 10 kg poppy straw during two deferent nakas on the National Highway.
Police said that during wee hours at naka point Motor Shed Chenani, one truck bearing number JK01P – 8720, coming from Srinagar towards Udhampur was signaled to stop.  Instead of stopping, driver of the truck fled away after breaking the naka point following which alert Policemen chased the truck, which was stopped at an isolated place by the driver who managed to flee taking the benefit of darkness.
During checking, three bags of Bhuki ‘doda’ weighing 46 kg were recovered. These bags were concealed inside the scrap tyres. From challan of the scrap, name of the driver has been ascertained as Riaz Ahmed, son of Mohammed Shafi of Dragar Karnah Tanghdar Kupwara.  driving license, Aadhar Card receipt and other documents were seized from the vehicle and in the evening, Police succeeded to arrest him from Ramban area when he was fleeing towards Kashmir.
In this context, case FIR No 46/2018 U/S 8/15 NDPDS act was registered and investigation has been taken up.
In another success, Chenani Police recovered 10 kg of bhuki from the cabin of truck bearing registration number JK02AL -1497 which was also coming from Srinagar towards Udhampur. Police also arrested driver of the truck, identified as  Talib Hussain,  son of Hakim Din of Baishty Chenani and it’s conductor Sunil Kumar alias Sonu,  son of Bishan Dass of Narsoo Chenani.
In this connection, case FIR Number 47/18 U/S 8/15/29 NDPS act has been registered.
Both eh operations were carried out under the supervision of SDPO Chenani, Chanderjit Singh and ASP Udhampur Faisal Querashi.
