UDHAMPUR, May 31: Udhampur Police today foiled another attempt of bovine smuggling and rescued 46 bovines besides arresting three smugglers from Tikri area.
Reports said that a Police team, led by IC Police Post Tikri, PSI Abdul Satar, under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Udhampur Sahil Mahajan, noticed few persons taking along with groups of bovine animals towards Kashmir Valley.
On being questioned, these persons failed to produce any valid permission to take the animals. Police rescued all the 46 bovines and arrested the smugglers, who were identified as Mohd. Hafiz , son of Mohd Yaqoob of Nagrota, Jammu, Mohd Maroof , son of Sher Ali of Hartaryan, Udhampur and Raj Ali , son of Mohd Yaqoob of Nagrota Jammu.
In this regards, case FIR number 129/2022, 130/2022 and 131/2022, under relevant sections of law were registered in PS Rehambal.
Pertinently, Udhampur Police has registered 134 cases in different Police Stations including those in hinterland of district and rescued 1406 bovines this year so far this year while 102 vehicles have been seized in bovine smuggling cases and 158 accused were arrested.
The drive was conducted under the supervision of SSP Udhampur Dr. Vinod Kumar.
