45 bovine animals rescued, 6 smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, June 4: Udhampur Police today rescued 45 bovine animals and arrested six persons who were smuggling the animals to Kashmir valley.
Based on reliably information, a police party laid a surprise naka near Jakhani on the National Highway in the wee hours and intercepted three trucks and rescued the bovine animals.
The trucks bearing registration number JK02X-1685, JK02AE-3015 and JK14B-2837 were on their way from Jammu towards Kashmir.
The accused bovine smugglers, namely Nassar Ahmed of Ramban, Din Mohd of Ramban, Nazir Ahmed of Digdol Ramban, Kala of Kanga Ramban, Muneer of Tarnote Ramban and Mohd Shafi of Maitra Ramban were arrested on the spot.
Police also seized the trucks and registered a case FIR number 202/2014 under Section 188/RPC 3 PC Act at Police Station Udhampur.
