The decision of the Govt to extend battle casualty status to para-military forces is a step in the right direction (D.E. Sep 28). Recognition of their services means evaluation of untiring, unfailing and self-less sacrifices they render in war and peace. During naxalite problems and militancy in different areas of the country, their contribution remains unique and unimparallel.
It is sound educational system that builds a strong and healthy nation and the forces which protect the boundaries when the nation sleeps in peace. The decision, apparently, isn’t unlikely to enthuse, encourage and embolden our jawans engaged actively in the defence of the country.
