UDHAMPUR, Dec 2: Continuing offensive to contain the spread of narcotic drugs & psychotropic substances, Udhampur police today seized 420 kg of poppy straw from three narcotic smuggler, who were also arrested.
The arrested accused, identified as Sukhwinder Singh, son of Bagwan Singh of Philore, Jalandhar Punjab, his brother Lakhwinder Singh and Vikram Singh, son of Balak Ram of Ramban, were smuggling the contraband in a truck, which was also seized by the Police.
Giving details, SSP Udhampur Rayees Mohammad Bhat, said that based on reliable information, a party of PS Udhampur, led by SHO Sanjeev Chib, under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Zahid Saif Wani, laid a naka at Jakheni for checking of vehicles. During naka checking, police party stopped one truck bearing registration number JK03B-9363 which was subjected to thorough search. During search of said vehicle, 420 kg poppy straw was recovered.
Police seized the poppy straw along with the truck and arrested all the accused. In this connection, a case FIR number 573/18 U/S 8/15 NDPS has been registered at PS Udhampur.
