UDHAMPUR, Jan 29: Udhampur Police today seized 40 kgs of contraband substance (poppy straw) from two narcotic smugglers, who were intercepted at Jakhani Chowk on the National Highway.
Giving details, SSP Rajiv Pandey said that a Police party, led by SHO Udhampur, Insp Vijay Singh Choudhary, under the supervision of Dr Rohit Chadgal, DySP Hqrs Udhampur and Rajinder Singh Katoch, Addl SP Udhampur, laid a naka at Jakhani, NHW, for frequent checking of vehicles.
During naka checking, police party intercepted one Honda City car bearing registration number DL7CF- 1880. 40 kg of poppy straw was recovered from the said vehicle. The accused driver namely Gagandeep Singh son of Mastan Singh of Ludhiana, alongwith his associate Amandeep Singh son of Ram of Ludhiana Punjab were arrested on the spot.
In this connection, a case FIR number 46/2020, under section 8/15 NDPS has been registered at PS Udhampur and further investigation of the case is going on.
