JAMMU, Oct 23: Special Judge Anticorruption (CBI Cases), Kaneez Fatima today awarded four years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 40,000 to Kulbir Singh Khajuria, the then Branch Manager State Bank of India, Ramsoo, who was caught red-handed on September 23, 2008 while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 3000 from the complainant.
According to the CBI case, the Branch Manager was demanding an amount of Rs 3000 as illegal gratification from the complainant for raising bills amounting Rs 11000. The case was investigated by KL Raina, Additional SP CBI/ACB Jammu.
After hearing Special PP SK Bhat for the CBI whereas Advocate KK Sharma for the accused, Special Judge Anticorruption (CBI Cases) observed, “the prosecution has succeeded in establishing demand of bribe by the accused as public servant”.
Accordingly, the accused was convicted for the offence under Section 161 RPC and 5(2) read with Section 5(1) (d) of PC Act 2006 and awarded rigorous imprisonment of four years and fine of Rs 40,000.
