4 states to go to assembly polls by Oct-Jan: Govt

NEW DELHI, July 21:
Assembly elections in four states — Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand and Maharashtra — are due to be held between October 2014 and January 2015, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
In a written reply, Law and Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said the term of the Haryana Assembly was due to expire on October 27, that of Maharashtra on December 7 while the term of the state legislatures in Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand were due to be completed on January 19, 2015 and January 7, 2015 respectively. Elections for the new Houses will be held by the Election Commission before the expiry of their present term, he added. (UNI)
