4 more withdraw on 2 seats

JAMMU, Apr 22: As four more candidates today withdrew from the contest for Ladakh and Baramulla Lok Sabha seats, 15 contestants were left in fray in Baramulla and only five in Ladakh, the lowest in any constituency of Jammu and Kashmir.
Official sources said three Independent candidates Anayat Ali, Mohammad Amin and Haji Mohammad Hassan Lal today opted out of the race from Ladakh seat leaving only five candidates in the contest. They are Thupstan Chhewang (BJP), Tsering Samphel (Congress), Aga Syed Kazim Sabri, Ghulam Raza and Ghulam Abbas.
Sabri is backed by Islamiya School Kargil while Raza, a Congress rebel had the backing of Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) Kargil.
In Baramulla, Khursheed Ahmad Khan, covering candidate of Peoples Conference withdrew from the race today leaving 15 candidates in the fray.
Both Baramulla and Ladakh constituencies would go to polls on May 7. Tomorrow is last date for withdrawal of nominations for both the seats.
