SRINAGAR: Four militants were killed as alert troops foiled two separate infiltration bids since early Monday morning near the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir.
Defence Ministry spokesperson Colonel Rajesh Kalia said that troops guarding the LoC noticed a group of militants sneaking into this side from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in Rampur sector in Baramulla.
When challenged and asked to surrender, the militants opened indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons, he said.
Col Kalia said forces also retaliated ensuing in an encounter, adding that two militants were killed in the exchange of fire. “Two weapons were recovered from the encounter site,” he said. (AGENCIES)
