JAMMU, Oct 1: Four young men, who were in their 20s, died in a tragic road mishap late last night on Jammu-Akhnoor Road near Batehra on the outskirts of the city.
According to the reports, five youths in the age group of 20-25 years, were on their way to Jammu from Akhnoor in a Wagon-R car bearing registration number JK02BS-9796 when their vehicle, which was being driven in a rash and negligent driver collided head on with another vehicle, Tata Haxon, coming from opposite side.

According to the police sources, the mishap occurred at about 10:45 PM last night and both the vehicles involved in the mishap were in high speed. They said that the collision was so strong that the Wagon-R was completely damaged in the mishap, resulting into on the spot death of all the four youths travelling in it while driver of other vehicle received serious injuries.
Sources identified deceased youths as Rana Pratap Singh (22) son of Raghubir Singh, Vikram Singh son of Sham Singh and Dharvinder Singh (22) son of Uttam Singh, all residents of Marjhali and Bhupinder Singh (20) son of Raghubir Singh of Patiyadi, Gurha Brahmna (Akhnoor) while the injured youth was identified as Sameek Sharma (25) son of Surinder Kumar of Ward No 3, Akhnoor.
On getting information, a police team from Kanachak police station rushed to the spot and shifted the dead bodies to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for postmortem and the injured youth to Sub District Hospital Akhnoor for treatment. Later, he was also referred to GMCH Jammu for specialized treatment.
After conducting the post mortem the dead bodies were handed over to their legal heirs for last rites while a case FIR No. 126/18 U/S 279/337/304A RPC had been registered in this connection at police station Kanachak and investigation started.
