SRINAGAR : Four people were killed and another was wounded when their vehicle fell nto a river in south Kashmir district of Anantnag early this morning, official sources said here.
Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed shock over the accident and expressedcondolences to the bereaved families.
Sources said a vehicle, carrying locals, skidded off the road and fell the into Lidder river at Nunwan Pahalgam in south Kashmir.
The deceased were identified as Bilal Ahmad Dar, Lateef Ahmad bhat, Umar Jahangir and Rafi Bhat, all residents of Puchal Pulwama.
However, one Aijaz Ahmad Bhat jumped out and sustained minor injuries.
The bodies were fished out and handed over to their relatives, they said.
Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives PDP president Mehbooba Mufti and MLA Pulwama Mohammad Khalil Bandh appreciated the efforts of locals, administration including the police for their help in fishing out the bodies from the river. (agencies)
