4 kg heroin recovered

MEDNHAR, Nov 3: Security forces have recovered a major consignment of heroin, suspected to be a part of cross-LoC smuggling racket, from Dhargloon area of Mendhar in district Poonch today.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Poonch, Ramesh Angral said that a joint patrolling party of police station Gursai along with SOG, 37 RR and 49 RR of Indian Army conducted a search operation in Dhargloon area and during searches approximately four kilograms of heroin-like substance was recovered. This consignment had been hidden under a big rock by the smugglers.
He said a case FIR No.89/20 under Sections 8/21/22 NDPS has been lodged in Police Station Gursai. Investigation is continuing to probe its handlers and source. Since this area is near the LoC and evidences suggests its trans- border smuggling links, he added,
Pertinent to mention here that this is consecutive fourth big recovery of narcotics in this border area of district Poonch by Police and Army in last 20 days.
