4 ITBP personnel, NDRF jawan among 28 test +ve in Jammu

45 more Corona cases treated, discharged

JAMMU, June 24: Four ITBP personnel and an NDRF jawan were among 28 persons who tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu region while 45 persons including 28 in Udhampur district alone were treated and discharged from various COVID Hospitals even as the Union Territory of Ladakh didn’t report any Corona positive case today keeping tally of the UT static at 932.
Eight persons including four ITBP personnel who had returned to Rajouri from different parts of the country after availing leave have tested positive for the virus in Rajouri district, SSP Rajouri Chandan Kohli told the Excelsior.
He said all of them have been shifted to hospital.
Four other positives in Rajouri district include an NDRF jawan hailing from Thanna Mandi who had returned on leave from Kolkata, a police constable from Darhal and two natives of Kalakote, all of whom were under administrative quarantine. They too have been shifted from the quarantine centres to COVID hospitals.
Seven persons have tested Corona positive in Jammu district including 33 and 28-year-old men from Janipura with travel history of New Delhi, 52-year-old man from Khour (Akhnoor), who too had returned from New Delhi and 39-year-old man from Bantalab, Other positives of Jammu district were also travelers.
A 35 years old private company’s official hailing from Avaniapuram Madurai in Tamil Nadu, who had returned to duty in Katra after leave, has tested positive for the virus in Reasi district. He was under administrative quarantine in Katra after returning from his hometown.
A 26-year-old woman from Kastigarh in Doda district, who had travel history of New Delhi, has also tested positive.
Two Corona cases were reported from Kathua district and both of them were migrant workers, who had returned from outside the Union Territory and were lodged at the quarantine centres.
Another 1272 persons crossed Lakhanpur from different parts of the country during last 24 hours, District Magistrate Kathua OP Bhagat said.
Kishtwar and Ramban districts today didn’t report any COVID positive case.
Four positive cases were reported from Samba, three from Udhampur and two from Poonch districts, all of them travelers.
At the same time, 45 persons were today treated and discharged from various COVID Hospitals in Jammu region.
They include 28 from Udhampur district, seven Jammu, three Doda, two each in Rajouri, Poonch and Kathua and one in Samba district.
As per the official figures, Jammu region now has 1424 Corona positive cases including 496 active cases. There have been 918 recoveries and 10 deaths in Jammu region.
Significantly after yesterday’s 85 Corona positive cases, the Union Territory of Ladakh didn’t report a single COVID case today.
The tally of Corona cases in Ladakh stood at 932 including 242 in Leh and 690 in Kargil while there were 657 active cases, 154 in Leh and 503 in Kargil.
There have been 274 recoveries in Ladakh-87 in Leh and 187 in Kargil and there was one Corona casualty in Leh district.
Of active Corona cases, 48 were admitted in COVID Hospitals, 526 were in home isolation and 83 in COVID Care Centres.
