4 injured in LPG cylinder explosion

MENDHAR, Aug 12: Four persons including a minor boy were seriously injured as an LPG cylinder exploded at their residence at village Saruti in Ari area of Mendhar teshil in district Poonch today.
The incident took place when Munira Bi, wife of Mohd Tufail  was busy in her kitchen in the morning. Suddenly, the gas from the LPG cylinder started leaking and it caught fire. She raised alarm and other members of the family including her husband rushed to the kitchen. The flames were rising high and Munira got trapped in the flames. Minor Farid Ahmed (14)  and Kulsum Akhtar (32) also started dousing the flames and in between, the cooking gas cylinder exploded with big bang causing injuries to them.
The explosion also caused extensive damage to the kitchen and adjoin rooms and neighbours rushed to the spot. They controlled the fire by pouring buckets of water. Then they rushed all the four injured to Mendhar hospital with 50 to 70 percent burn injuries.  The doctors provided preliminary treatment and then they were  referred to SKIMS hospital at Soura in Srinagar. They had received multiple deep wounds.
