JAMMU, Oct 11: Jhajjar Kotli police arrested four persons for smuggling bovine animals to Valley and rescued 13 milch animals from their possession.
As per police sources, on specific information, police team from Jhajjar Kotli police station laid a naka at Suketar, Domail and signaled a truck bearing registration number JK02-0461 to stop for checking.
On seeing police team, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police rescued 13 bovine animals from the truck and arrested four persons on the spot.
The accused have been identified as Mohammad Shuban, son of Mohammad Maqbul and Jahangir, son of Ameen Lone, both residents of Pampore, Mohammad Rashid, son of Daldeen and Murad Ali, son of Roshan Din, both residents of Vijaypur, district Samba.
They were trying to smuggle the bovine animals to Valley, but their attempt was thwarted by the police.
A case under FIR Number 117/15 under Section 188 RPC and 3/5 PCA Act has been registered against the accused at Jhajjar Kotli police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma and assisted by SHO Jhajjar Kotli police station Inspector Ravinder Singh made the arrests under the supervision of SP Rural Rajiv Pandey and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
