MENDHAR, Oct 23: All the four hand pumps installed at village Darana near Mendhar by the Department of PHE/ Ground Water Wing are lying defunct for the last several months.
Locals of the area said that in view of acute shortage of water in the area, Ground Water Division of the PHE, I&FC Department installed four hand pumps to cater to the drinking water need of the border villagers few years back, but these pumps remained functional hardly for several months and now are lying defunct.
The matter was brought to the notice of concerned PHE Department officials, Divisional administration and even the local MLA Javed Rana by the people but these hand pumps could not be repaired or replaced by others till date. The villagers have appealed to the concerned PHE Minister to get these water hand pumps repaired or replaced without any more delay as the entire area had got a big relief after these hand pumps were installed there.
