JAMMU, Sept 16: Ramban, Akhnoor and Bhaderwah Police arrested four drug peddlers and recovered contraband and cash from their possession.
As per police sources, on specific information a team from Police Station Ramban laid a naka at Cafeteria Morh and intercepted an auto loaded carrier bearing registration number JK19A-2133.
During checking, police team recovered 165 grams cannabis and Rs 2.99 lakh cash from the possession of the driver and arrested him.
The arrested person was identified as Mohd Younas, son of Abdul Salam, a resident of Ward Number 1, District Ramban.
During preliminary questioning, it came to surface that two FIRs also stands registered against the accused person Mohd Younas at Police Station Banihal.
A fresh case FIR Number 320/2022 under section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Ramban and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Ramban Inspector Sandeep Charak made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Pardeep Singh Sen and SSP Ramban Mohita Sharma.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Akhnoor in collaboration with SOG laid a special naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB12N-7486.
During search, police team recovered 90 kilograms of poppy straw from the truck and arrested the driver, who was identified as Rahul Kumar, son of Raju Ram of Jalandar Punjab.
A case under relevant sections has been registered at Police Station Akhnoor and investigation initiated.
Police team led by SHO Akhnoor Inspector Hilal Azhar made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial and SP Rural Sanjay Sharma.
In another similar case, a team from Police Station Bhaderwah led by PSI Avinash Khajuria while on Naka duty at Domail observed suspicious movement of two pedestrians coming from Doda towards Bhaderwah and intercepted them.
During checking, police team recovered heroin and Rs 19000 cash from the possession of these pedestrians and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Adil Hussain, son of Tariq Hussain of Chinote, Bhaderwah and Majid Mukhtyar, son of Mukhtyar Ahmed of Chakka Bhaderwah.
A case FIR Number 150/2022 under section 8/21 NDPS act has been registered at Police Station Bhaderwah and investigation started.
