4-day free medical camp by J&K Bank begins

SRINAGAR, Oct 2: In the post flood situation, when healthcare facilities are yet to be back on track in the Kashmir valley, J&K Bank today started a 4-day free medical camp in association with a local NGO Help Poor Voluntary Trust (HPVT), here at Iqbal Park, Srinagar.
Under the supervision of Bank’s Senior President Abdul Rauf Bhat, the camp was kick-started at 9 am in the morning.  Hundreds of patients thronged the camp in the early hours.
During the day, the make-shift check-up counters witnessed a beeline of patients, mostly middle-aged elders especially women from flood affected areas of the Srinagar city, getting free counseling and consultations from senior doctors in General Medicine, Endocrinology and Psychiatry.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Rauf Bhat said, “As a socially conscious bank, we are committed to be with our people across the State both in times of grief and growth. We shall leave no stone unturned to bring convenience and comfort to our people during these testing times. Food, health and education shall remain focus of such engagements in the coming days.”
Thanking the team of doctors, volunteers of HPVT and J&K Flood Relief Group comprising Kashmiri students, doctors, engineers and other professionals serving in Delhi for lending their generous support to the camp, Rauf assured them of complete possible cooperation in every effort aimed at providing substantial relief to the flood affected people of the valley.
On the first day of the camp, a team of doctors provided the free medical check-up, counseling and consultations to over 500 patients who came from various flood affected parts of the Srinagar district during the day.
On the occasion, the patients were given medicines free of cost. Besides, free sugar-tests of the patients were also done on the occasion.
More than 2000 patients are expected to visit the 4-day camp for consultations, counseling and  medicines.
Meanwhile, the bank has decided to carry on its normal business on Friday and Sunday.
