BATALA, Jan 9: Four companies of Border Security Force and Central Reserve Police Force were deployed here today while police took out flag march, as security was stepped up in the city in light of the terrorist attack in nearby Pathankot last Saturday.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Batala, Diljinder Singh Dhillon said, “BSF and CRPF forces have been deployed and patrolling have been intensified in and around the city. The whole exercise is aimed to give sense of security to people who are bit scared in the wake of Pathankot terror attack and also better utilisation of the force.”
He clarified that there was no specific input about the presence of suspected terrorists in this area.
Police also took out flag march in various parts of the city, led by the SSP.
The dog squad was also pressed into the service and all the vehicles were thoroughly searched by security agencies.
Meanwhile, Government Railway Police (GRP) has also strengthened security at Amritsar-Pathankot railway section.
GRP in charge Parmod Kumar said railways’ area has been divided into four sections where security personnel were deployed round the clock. (PTI)
