UDHAMPUR, June 3: Foiling different attempts of bovine smuggling, Udhampur Police today arrested four smugglers and rescued 38 animals from their possession.
A Police party of Chenani Police laid a naka at NHW and intercepted two trucks bearing registration number JK02S- 9585 and JK02S- 9811. During checking, these trucks were found loaded with 11 and 14 bovines respectively. Animals were rescued and the accused smugglers, namely Mohd Anwar, son of Kalu of Soafshali Kokernag, a/p Bithindi Jammu, Abdul Farooq son of Gh Rasool of Regusha Sidhra Jammu and Saddam Hussain son of Riyaz Ahmed of Gunn Reasi were arrested on the spot. In this regard, case FIRs No. 68/2017 and 69/2017 P/S Chenani were registered under relevant sections of law and further investigation was going on.
In another success, a team from Police Station Udhampur intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02U- 5675 at Jakheni naka. During checking, 13 bovines were found loaded in the vehicle. The animals were rescued and the accused driver was arrested on the spot.
In this connection, a case FIR number 245/2017 has been registered at Police Station Udhampur under relevant sections of law.
