UDHAMPUR, Oct 25: Foiling separate attempts of bovine smuggling, Udhampur Police rescued 38 bovine animals and seized three vehicles besides arresting 4 smugglers.
32 bovine animals were rescued at Chenani when these were being smuggled to Kashmir in two trucks in the fleet of other vehicles carrying animals with permission.
Acting on reliable information, a police party from Police Station Chenani, led by SHO Paramjeet Singh under the supervision of Chanderjeet Singh, SDPO Chenani, laid a naka and intercepted two trucks bearing registration numbers JK02AQ-3147 and JK14B-0989.
During search of these trucks, 32 bovine animals were found illegally loaded in these vehicles. All the bovine animals were rescued and both the drivers along with their associate were arrested. The arrested persons were identified as Mohd Latif, son of Haji Babu of Maralian Miran Sahib Jammu, Basharat Hussain son of Mohd Harun of Nagrota and Saddam Hussain son of Rashid of Ragoora Jammu.
Police also seized both the trucks and registered a case FIR No.134/2017 u/s 188 RPC, 3 PCA Act at P/S Chenani. Name of one Parvaiz Ahmad Khan alias Pappu Pathan of Gopalpora Anantnag, has also surfaced in the bovine smuggling case.
Meanwhile,
Udhampur six bovine animals were rescued by Police at Tikri. Based on reliable information, a police party led by SI Sanjeet Sharma intercepted one Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK02BR 6437, in which six bovine animals were being smuggled to Kashmir.
Police rescued the animals and arrested driver of the vehicle, who was identified as Mohd Younus, son of Mohd Hussain of Bhatindi, Jammu. The vehicle was also seized and a case in this connection was registered at Police Station Rehambal.
