JAMMU, Dec 25: Nagrota and Sidhra police under ‘Operation Kamdhenu’ rescued 37 cattle and arrested one smuggler.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Nagrota Police Station laid a naka and intercepted a Srinagar bound trucks bearing registration number JK01K-6078.
During checking, police rescued 22 bovine animals from the truck and arrested the smuggler, who has been identified as Zahoor Ahmed, son of Ghulam Qadar, a resident of Kachloo Qazipora, District Baramulla.
Meanwhile, a team from Sidhra Police Post rescued 15 bovine animals from a truck bearing registration number JK02AS-8717, but the accused managed to escape from the spot.
Case under FIR Numbers 329/18 and 330/18 under section 188 RPC and 3/5 PCA Act have been registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation started.
Police teams led by SHO Nagrota Inspector Deepak Pathania, Incharge Police Post Sidhra SI Parvaiz Ahmed Khanday and assisted by ASI Janak Singh, Constable Mohammad Shafi and Constable Parshotam Kumar rescued the cattle from smuggling under the supervision of Mohan Lal Sharma SDPO Nagrota, Dushyant Sharma SP Rural Jammu and Vivek Gupta DIG JKS Range/SSP Jammu.
