JAMMU, Feb 1: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today said that a total of 365 braid chopping incidents have taken place in Jammu and Kashmir. However, only three persons have been arrested by the police so far.
In a written reply to the clubbed question of Altaf Ahmed Wani, Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar and Abdul Majid Bhat (Larmi), Mehbooba Mufti, who is also Minister Incharge Home Department, said that 365 braid chopping incidents have taken place across J&K.
Of these, 164 incidents were reported from different parts of Kashmir valley and 201 from Jammu region. However, no such incident was reported from Ladakh region.
Three persons namely Mohammad Aslam Shah, son of Abdul Gani Shah, Aadil Ahmad Shah, son of Abdul Hamid, both the residents of Bamroda Khag Budgam and Zareefa, daughter of Mohd Ibrahim Khan of Balhama Baramulla were arrested.
No arrest in braid chopping incidents of Jammu region was made by the police despite registration of FIRs.
She admitted that incidents of braid chopping caused insecurity among the general masses in the State especially in Valley for some time. “All possible measures were taken to curb such incidents within shortest possible time”, the Chief Minister said, adding “no braid chopping incident has been reported since November 8, 2017 but the field agencies have been directed to remain extra vigilant to prevent such incidents in future”.
