JAMMU, Sept 7: Thirty-three more cases of dengue were reported today from various districts of Jammu and Kashmir, taking the total number of cases so far this year to 640.
A health official said that 382 people were screened today for dengue in Jammu province out of which 33 turned out to be positive. Of the 33 positive cases, 14 cases were reported from Jammu district while 10 cases were reported from Samba, 5 from Kathua and 4 from Udhampur. The positive patients include 30 adults and 3 children, he added.
He said maximum 462 cases reported so far are from Jammu district followed by Kathua district with 65 cases and Samba 54 cases. “There were 16 cases in Udhampur, 12 in Rajouri, 9 each in Reasi and Poonch, 5 in Doda, one in Kishtwar, four in Kashmir and three from other parts of the country,” the official said.
The official further informed that a total of 207 dengue patients have been admitted to the hospitals and of these, 146 have been discharged and 56 patients are undergoing treatment.
“The dengue cases are rising with each day,” the official said, and advised that citizens should ensure no stagnation of water in and around their houses as mosquitoes responsible for dengue breed in stagnant water. He said that water filled utensils and tanks should be kept covered and the cooler should be empty two times in a week.
