32 bovines rescued, 4 held

RAMBAN, May 16: Batote police foiled a bovine smuggling bid by rescuing 32 bovine animals and nabbing four persons.
As per police sources, on specific information, Police party led by SHO Batote Inspector Mohammad Iqbal under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Mohammad Rafiq and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar laid a special naka at Baggu Nallah Batote and signaled two trucks bearing registration number JK02AJ-4071 and JK02T-7660 to stop.
On seeing police party, the drivers tried to escape by accelerating their vehicles but police party chased them and stopped the vehicle near some distance.
During checking, 32 bovines were rescued from the vehicle and arrested four persons, who have been identified as Shabir Ahmed alias Guddu, son of Mohammad Yousuf, Gulam Abass, son of Badhullah, Sher Ali, son of Mian Rashid and Mohammad Shafi, son of Mohammad Yaqub, all resident of district Reasi.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered against them at Police Station Batote and investigation started.
