* Clarification on PRC from GAD awaited: DG

JAMMU, June 14: While the Director General Women and Child Development, J&K, Mir Tariq today said that a necessary notification with regard to `Ladli Beti Scheme’, was yet awaited from GAD, a Government spokesman claimed that after the abrogation of Article 370 in J&K on Aug 5, 2019, 31636 new beneficiaries have been added under `Ladli Beti Scheme’ in J&K UT.
While clarifying on `Ladli Beti Scheme’ the spokesman claimed that after August 2019, 31636 cases have been added till date. He added that number of beneficiaries under the scheme since its inceptation till May 2021 are 83617. He, however, did not give district wise breakup of the new beneficiaries or any clarification with regard to denial of Domicile and demand of PRCs from the people by ICDS officials in Jammu district. He also claimed that an amount of Rs 151 crore has been deposited in the accounts of these beneficiaries in J&K from April 2019 till date.
Meanwhile, Director General, Women and Child Development J&K, Mir Tariq clarified that a necessary notification from GAD with regard to PRC/Domicile was yet awaited. He said fresh process in this regard has been initiated. He admitted that after formation of UT, all the new laws are applicable in J&K including the Domicile Law.
