JAMMU, Mar 9: A Heart Diseases Awareness Camp was organized at Nagrota today in which 300 patients were examined.
The camp was organized under the supervision of Dr. Sushil K. Sharma, Head Department of Cardiology Government Medical College, Jammu along with a team of doctors which comprised of Dr. Nasir Choudhary, Dr. D. Kapoor, Dr. Kailash Chander, Dr. Richu Sharma, Dr. Najmus Saqib and paramedics including Kashmiri Lal, Rajesh Sharma and volunteers Gourav Sharma, Mohan Krishan and Lokesh.
In the camp, the patients were given benefit of diagnostic tests like ECG, Biochemistry and free medicines were also distributed. Further the patients were given advise for undergoing advanced tests like echocardiography, coronary angiography and holter monitoring so that their cardiac problems can be attended objectively.
In addition Dr Sushil Sharma highlighted the role of early diagnosis and treatment of heart ailments and for that regular medical examination is important especially in patients who are having risk factors for coronary artery diseases like Diabetes, Hypertension, obesity, hyperlipidemia and family history of heart diseases.
Further, Dr. Sharma stressed upon the preventive aspect of cardiac diseases. In this regard people in general are advised to adapt a healthy life style which include regular walk and shun smoking.
Dr. Sharma explained about being vigilant about Swine Flu which at present time is causing problems in health management and for that it was explained that Flu like symptoms should be treated aggressively, and if there are exaggeration of symptoms urgent consultation at Swine Flu OPD and required tests and medicine should be taken up.
