300 kg lahan destroyed, 2 arrested

JAMMU, Aug 11: Excise Department today conducted raids in Bishnah and RS Pura villages and destroyed about 300 kg lahan. Six bottles of illicit liquor was also recovered by the raiding team and two persons were arrested in this connection.
The raids were conducted by excise team led by ETO South Range, Rohit Sharma, along with Inspector Ritesh Gupta and Sub Inspectors, Balwan Singh and Vikas Khajuria, on the directions of Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu, Syed Muried Hussain Shah, at villages Kotli Mian fateh, Kotli Charkan, Deoli, Makhanpur, Salehar, Dablehar, Tarachak, Kothey Bulandae, Lalyana, Pandorian, Chak Majra, Joian, Sheikhpura and Shibuchak of Bishnah and RS Pura Excise Ranges.
During the course of raids, two persons namely Jeet Raj son of Kounsal Ram, resident of Salehar and Ayodhya Devi wife of late Bachan Lal, resident of Joian, were arrested and booked under section 48 of J&K Excise Act, as four bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from their possession.
Besides this, about 300 kg of lahan and six bottles of illicit liquor made from it were recovered by the raiding team from state land and destroyed on the spot.
