Srinagar, May 28: The authorities today launched a massive anti-encroachment drive in South Kashmir’s Pahalgam along picturesque Nallah Lidder and retrieved over 30 kanals of State land from the encroachers.
As per details, the drive was carried out in Movera village of Tehsil Sallar along Nallah Lidder in Pahalgam and the land under Khasra Numbers 421, 411, 380, 395, 379 and 398 was retrieved.
Tehsildar Sallar Dr Mohammad Hussain who was heading the drive, told EXCELSIOR that upon receiving the directions they acted and retrieved the encroached State land.
He said that the encroachments were carried out by locals as well as by the hoteliers and there was temporary fencing, wiring, and structures constructed at some spots. He added that the same have been removed and land has been retrieved.
Dr Hussain said that the area is an upcoming tourist spot and there is further scope for the retrieval of 50-60 kanals of State land for which the required mapping and the survey is being carried out.
“There is the scope of further retrieving 50-60 and for that, we have to carry out survey, mapping and demarcation; it has to be verified thoroughly and for that purpose, the survey and the demarcation are already on. If there will be some wrong entries in the records, the same will be expunged immediately,” he said.
The mapping and survey of the land that was retrieved today, Dr Hussain said, was already carried out and they acted after proper verification and scrutiny of the records. Notably, the drive was supported by Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA) besides by Police and other departments
The officials have appealed to the locals as well the hoteliers not to resort to the encroachment of the state land and those found violating the rules, they warned, will be booked under relevant sections of the law.
Dr Hussian also told Excelsior that the authorities will make sure that the state land is retrieved and protected. “We will do the packing and marking of the retrieved land for permanent boundaries so that there is no further encroachment of the state land,” he said.
The Revenue officials in the district said that there will be zero tolerance against corruption, illegal constructions as well as encroachments of the state land and that there will be no pick and choose while acting upon the illegalities.
