BHADERWAH, Dec 16: While launching tirade against timber mafia and land encroachers, a team of Forest officials from Bhaderwah, headed by Shepher Iqbal ( RO), under the supervision of TB Singh DFO Bhaderwah seized 30 large scants of Deodhar including some poles and also removed encroachment on nearly 215 kanals of forest land.
The team under the guidance of Conservator of Forests Chenab Circle, Doda, M P Dogra, on a specific input conducted raid in the house of Mehboob Iqbal Malik, son of Mohd Anwar Malik, resident of Akhroot Bagh in Bhaderwah today and seized 20 Deodar scants which were hidden inside after bringing from nearby forest illegally during night hours.
All the seized material was taken into custody by the Forest team and brought in the Forest complex at Bhaderwah. The accused manage to fled from the spot after seeing the Forest team. A case under relevant Section of Forest Act has been registered against the accused and investigation started.
In another operation, 10 Deodar poles were also seized by the same Forest party headed by Shepher Iqbal from the premises of a poultry farm of Iqbal Khan, resident of Deerna Bhalla of Killar Forest Range, which were brought illegally from the nearby forest and were to be used in the construction of poultry farm.
When contacted the DFO said that he is getting positive response from the general public because of quick and stern action being taken against the timber mafia and delinquent field staff. However, some miscreants are still trying to indulge in Forest damage but are apprehend with the active support of general public.
Meanwhile, yet another Forest team under the supervision of T B Singh organised operation in compartment No. 16/K of Kallar Range of Bhaderwah Forest Division and removed encroachment on nearly 215 kanal Forest land. This huge piece of forest land had been converted into personal orchard by the land grabbers. They had raised brush wood and stone fencing there. The encroachers were booked and the land was retrieved. The DFO directed the field staff to go for fencing of the cleared Forest land.
