3 yrs imprisonment awarded to bank employee

SRINAGAR, Apr 11: Special Judge CBI Kashmir YP Kotwal today awarded three years imprisonment to Mohd Sidiq Shosha, Cashier-cum-Clerk, Qamraz Rural Bank Branch Reban Sopore in misappropriation case.
According to the CBI case, the Manager (P) Law Qamraz Rural Bank Head Office Sopore made a written complaint to SP CBI ACB alleging therein that Mohd Sidiq Shosha, Cashier-cum-Clerk, Qamraz Rural Bank branch Reban Sopore has misappropriated huge amount received by him from various account holders without making credit entries in the respective ledgers, scroll books and other bank records.
After hearing Kapil Verma, PP for CBI whereas Advocate Farooq Ahmed Shah for the accused, the court observed, “prosecution evidence, documentary as well as oral brought on record, sufficiently proves it beyond any reasonable doubt that accused has not deposited /credited the amount received from various account holders in their respective accounts”, adding “the accused has misappropriated an amount of Rs 494548.00 in case file No: 78/CBI, Rs 432180 in case file No: 79/CBI and Rs 641600 in case file No: 80/CBI”.
“The accused has failed to produce any such evidence /material on record, which could disprove the entrustment and misappropriation of the amount”, the court said and awarded three years imprisonment to the accused and imposed fine of Rs 6 lakh.
