3 vehicles seized for illegal mining

SRINAGAR, Sept 2: Police today seized three vehicles involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals in separate operations in south Kashmir's Pulwama district.

A Police spokesperson said a police party from Police Post Newa, during patrolling at Wahibugh, Romshi Nallah, intercepted a tractor loaded with illegally extracted boulders in coordination with the Geology and Mining Department. "The vehicle was seized and later challaned by the department for further action," he said.

In a separate operation, the spokesperson said, police from Police Station Litter intercepted two dumpers loaded with illegally acquired boulders at Petipora Crossing, the spokesperson said. The vehicles, bearing registration numbers JK13K-5811 and JK13J-5811, were seized and legal proceedings initiated.
