3 traders awarded for best decoration on Lohri

JAMMU, Jan 18: Raghunath Bazar Businessmen Association has welcomed move of Directorate of Tourism to announce awards for the business houses of Raghunath Bazar for the best decoration of their shops during the Lohri festival.
The Jammu Directorate of Tourism, while accepting the selection made by three member committee appointed by department announced prizes in the form of `free-stay’ at Patnitop JKTDC huts for the winners. M/s Jainways was adjudged as first and was awarded prize of four night free stay at Patnitop. M/s Bania Super Market was adjudged second and will be entitled to three-night free stay while M/s Puri Cloth House remained third and offered two nights’ free stay at Patnitop. The offer is valid up to 30th of April, this year.
Meanwhile, in a meeting of the Raghunath Bazar Businessmen Association held here today under the chairmanship of Baldev Khullar, the members extended gratitude to the department and lauded its efforts. They said RBBA will organize Lohri festival 2014 on much larger scale. They said competition of Chajja Dances by various groups will be the main feature of the festival. The first best decorated Chajja and performance of dance in traditional Dogri costumes will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 11,000, the second prize will be Rs 5100 while third prize Rs 2500. Mr Khullar said this step has been taken with a view to revive and highlight the cultural heritage and tradition of Jammu region. He also extended gratitude to the administration, various departments and agencies for their support in organizing Lohri festival with great enthusiasm.
